Man facing arson charge in Vegas apartment blaze

Firefighters said a man who was treated for minor injuries was arrested on suspicion of arson after a Christmas Eve blaze damaged a Las Vegas-area duplex apartment.

Deputy Clark County Fire Chief Russ Cameron said the fire was reported a little after 10 p.m. Monday at a building on Oak Valley Drive, near Rainbow Boulevard and Flamingo Road.

Firefighters battled flames in several different places, but were able to contain damage to about half the duplex.

The other apartment and adjacent structures were spared.

Fire investigators determined that no one was in the duplex when the fire started.

Damage was estimated at about $50,000.

The name of the man who was arrested wasn't immediately made public. Cameron says he's being held at the Clark County jail..
