Man facing murder charges recounts beating friend to death in 2009

Bryan Hall testified during his capital murder trial Monday that he was drunk and enraged when he beat his former best friend to death in 2009.
The 31-year-old said he attacked Brad Flamm after he asked whether Hall's newborn daughter was his, suggesting Hall's girlfriend, now wife, was sleeping around.
Hall cried as he testified about slamming Flamm's head into concrete until the 27-year-old was dead after the victim's shift at Trevi, an Italian restaurant at the Forum Shops at Caesars.
Hall faces one count each of first-degree murder and armed robbery. If he is convicted, jurors will decide whether Hall should be sentenced to death.
The packed courtroom, filled with Flamm's family and friends, including gaming executive and casino owner George Maloof, was silent as Hall testified before Judge Michelle Leavitt.
Hall said it was Mother's Day weekend and he had spent May 10, 2009, meeting his girlfriend's family members, who were in town from Minnesota.
As the night progressed, Hall said, he became drunk as his girlfriend nagged him to try to soothe their crying daughter while they drove down the Strip.
Instead, Hall said, he got out of the car and walked to Caesars Palace and Trevi, where he, too, used to work as a waiter.
As the restaurant was closing, Hall went to a back hallway to see whether any of his former co-workers could give him a ride home. That is when he ran into Flamm, who had a previous sexual relationship with Hall's girlfriend.
Hall testified that Flamm said that "because of the way that I (expletive) her, she could have had twins."
The comment sent Hall into a rage, he said. Once he realized Flamm was dead, Hall testified, he dragged the body into a corner. He said he never called for help.
"When I saw what I did to Brad, I got scared," Hall said.
Then he realized his "whole life in this one moment was changed forever."
Flamm's body was found a day later on the east end of the Caesars property, under bushes near the loading docks.
Closing arguments in the case could come as early as today .
