Man in critical condition after being struck by vehicle

A man was hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle whose driver was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence, Las Vegas police said.

Lt. Barb Schmidt said a man who was either 69 or 70 years old was struck by a vehicle at 5:07 p.m. near Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road.

The identity of the injured man was not released. He was listed in critical condition at University Medical Center on Wednesday night.

Schmidt said a driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence or drugs. The driver's identity was not released.

The investigation was ongoing.
