Man repairing car dies after jack stand slips

A 32-year-old man working under a car died Tuesday after the jack stand slipped and the car fell on his chest, Las Vegas police said.

The man's identity was not released.

Police said the accident occurred at 11:38 a.m. when the man was working on a 2000 Saturn Sedan in a residential driveway in the 3700 block of North Walnut Road, near Gowan Road.

Police said the jack stand slipped and the left front rotor fell on the man.

Residents of the home lifted the car off the man's chest and called 911. The man was pronounced dead at University Medical Center.
