Man sentenced to 5-15 years for causing fatal DUI crash
A 20-year-old Las Vegas man was sentenced Wednesday to five to 15 years in prison for a 2011 fatal drunken driving crash.
Ivan Pantoja-Lizarraga pleaded guilty in July to DUI causing death in the wreck that killed pedestrian Maria R. Sotelo, 46, on Aug. 13, 2011. His blood alcohol level after the crash was 0.15 percent, nearly twice the legal limit.
Las Vegas police said Pantoja-Lizarraga was driving a 1999 Mercedes Benz E320 on Upland Boulevard, near Jones Boulevard and Alta Drive, when he struck and killed Sotelo, who was standing behind a 1994 Ford Ranger when she was struck.
Pantoja-Lizarraga was sentenced by District Judge Jessie Walsh.
