Man wounded; shooter flees on scooter
Las Vegas police are searching for an assailant who fired multiple gunshots, injuring a man and then taking off on a scooter Tuesday afternoon.
Police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said police received multiple calls about 2:09 p.m. of a person who fired shots outside of a business at 3800 S. Maryland Parkway, near Katie Avenue.
The victim appeared to be injured from a ricocheted shot, Meltzer said.
The suspect, who might have been wearing a ski mask or a helmet and appeared to be firing a rifle, drove away in an unknown direction.
Children who had been let out of school in the area were being gathered by police and escorted to safety.
The scooter was described as dark in color.
Meltzer called the area near the shooting "very dynamic."
