North Las Vegas man indicted in kidnapping, accessory to murder
December 6, 2012 - 2:56 pm
Robert Villalon was supposed to die in the dark desert more than 40 miles outside of Las Vegas.
But Diablo spared his life the night of June 29.
Alberto Alfaroiza, a 51-year-old with the devilish nickname, took Villalon back to Las Vegas, where he told police and a county grand jury what happened.
The grand jury indicted Alfaroiza earlier this week on four counts, including accessory to murder and first-degree kidnapping.
On the day he cheated death, Villalon and Scott Harrison went to Alfaroiza's home at 4329 E. Azure Ave. in North Las Vegas.
There, Andy Soto - high on methamphetamine and paranoid - fatally stabbed Harrison, authorities said.
Alfaroiza said he didn't know Soto was going to kill Harrison.
Armed with a pistol, Alfaroiza tied up Villalon until nightfall, when he released him to help dispose of the body.
The two men put the body in the bed of a truck and drove to the Cold Creek Road exit off of U.S. Highway 95, where Villalon buried Harrison with rocks.
Once finished burying his friend, Villalon told investigators he expected to die.
But Alfaroiza "decided that Villalon did not deserve to die and released him," according to a Las Vegas police report.
The body was found less than a week later. Police then found Villalon and Alfaroiza.
Soto wasn't indicted. He was shot dead in July by two Henderson police officers who thought Soto made "aggressive, furtive movements" toward them following a short car chase. He was unarmed.
Alfaroiza remained at the Clark County Detention Center on $250,000 bail, records show.
An arraignment hearing was set for Dec. 11.
He faces a drug trafficking charge in a separate case.
