Nye County official targeted in Pahrump home invasion

A Nye County official was targeted during a home invasion Saturday night, the Nye County sheriff's office said Sunday.

The sheriff's office said Nye County Public Administrator Robert Jones was at his Pahrump home on Black Street when four to six people, dressed in black and wearing ski masks, entered with shotguns and handguns.

Jones was tied up after he fought with the perpetrators, who took property from his home, the sheriff's office said. The home invasion occurred between 9 and 10 p.m. The sheriff's office didn't detail what was taken.

The suspects included both men and women. Investigators think Jones was targeted because of his government post.

"This attack appears to not be a random act of violence but an isolated intentional act against Jones because of his official capacity," a statement from the sheriff's office said.

The perpetrators should be considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.
