One man dead after shooting in northwest valley
An early morning shooting at what one neighbor described as a "drug house" left one man dead Friday morning in a yard on View Drive near Jones Boulevard.
Las Vegas police responded to a phone call just before 8 a.m. to find a white man thought to be in his 30s who had died from gunshot wounds in the 300 block of the street.
Homicide Lt. Ray Steiber said a preliminary investigation into the shooting revealed that a confrontation had occurred at a house early Friday morning.
A subject involved left and later returned with a gun. A black compact car parked in the middle of the street was thought to be involved in the shooting, according to Steiber.
No arrests had been made at the time, but police thought everyone involved had been located. Witnesses were said to be cooperative.
Steiber said there may have been a history of incidents tied to the house where the shooting occurred.
"I do believe there have been incidents at this residence in the past," Steiber said.
Neighbor Jeff Gilliland said the house has been trouble for the past year he has lived on the street. He added that multiple young children lived in the home.
"It's a chaos-y drug house," he said. "Somebody probably should have called (Child Protective Services) a long time ago."
A neighbor told Gilliland he saw two people fighting in the front yard of the house early Friday morning.
One was upset after being kicked out of the house. The disgruntled person then returned with a gun. Wrestling ensued, and a shot was fired, the neighbor said.
Several witnesses at the scene, including one who said he lived at the house in question, said the victim was the man who left and returned with the gun.
