Police arrest Henderson’s failed ‘crowbar robber’

He walked in with a gun, ordered the clerk to the ground and tried but failed to pry open the safe with a crowbar - twice.

Police arrested Christopher Jimerson, 24, of Las Vegas on Wednesday night in connection with two failed robberies at Henderson convenience stores.

Jimerson is in custody at Clark County Detention Center on two counts of attempted robbery, two counts of burglary with a deadly weapon and two counts of destruction of property on $140,000 bail.

Police say Jimerson's first failed robbery was May 30 at the Speedee Mart on Horizon Ridge Parkway. Eight days later, he tried to rob the 24/7 Xpress gas station at the intersection of North Stephanie Street and Trail Canyon Road, according to Henderson police.

He was arrested by the Criminal Apprehension Team, a task force of Henderson and Las Vegas police and FBI officers.

In both cases, he fled the store empty-handed.
