Police investigate body found in desert

Homicide detectives are investigating the discovery of a body found in the desert on July 4, a Las Vegas police spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Officer Laura Meltzer said police were alerted to the body at 4:17 p.m. A person reported seeing what appeared to be a body, somewhere in the desert between Las Vegas and Indian Springs. Indian Springs is about 45 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

Meltzer didn't have further details.

The investigation is ongoing.
