Police seek suspect, release video in fatal stabbing

Las Vegas police released a video Monday in hopes it might lead investigators to a suspect in a June slaying.

Louis James Kim was found seriously injured about 8:30 p.m. on June 21 at the Stupak Community Center, 251 W. Baltimore Ave., near Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.

The attack may have been random, police said.

Kim was stabbed in the head, the Clark County coroner's office said. He died at University Medical Center later that night.

Surveillance video captured Kim, wearing a white shirt and jeans, walking east on a sidewalk approaching an alley. The attacker emerges from the alley, walking south. He passes a few feet in front of Kim and turns and attacks him.

Police said nothing was taken from Kim after the attack. The attacker was wearing a dark-colored, hooded shirt and black shorts that appeared to have a light-colored stripe on it.

The suspect was last seen in an alley near a convenience store at 200 E. Boston Ave., near Industrial Road and Sahara Avenue.

Anyone with information concerning this crime can call the Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
