Rodeo rider dies during event at South Point

A 25-year-old Missouri man was killed Saturday night during a rodeo event at the South Point.
J.D. Jones of Goodman, Mo., died during a saddle bronc event at the 37th annual Indian National Finals Rodeo, according to a statement posted on the company's website.
"J.D. was a favorite of the rodeo because of his passion and respect of the sport and he died doing something he loved. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of J.D. at this difficult time," the statement read.
The company, which is now 35 years old, stages a series of rodeos leading up to the finals at the South Point.
