Second suspect arrested in shooting outside Henderson mall

A second suspect has been arrested in the Jan. 26 parking lot shooting that injured one man in Henderson.

Ellis A. Banks, 26, was arrested Thursday in connection with the shooting outside the Galleria at Sunset mall between rival gang members, according to Henderson police. Marquell D. Scott, 28, was arrested on July 24 in the same case.

Banks and Scott are accused of firing 12 shots at Lionel Bowen, 23, who was attempting to flee. Bowen was shot once in the arm.

A handgun that matched the shell casings found in the mall parking lot was found at the home of Scott’s mother during a police search.

Police believe the shooting was motivated by Banks’ and Scott’s gang affiliations. They both face charges of attempted murder, discharging a gun into an occupied vehicle and possession of a gun by a convicted felon.
