Storey County inmate found two weeks after escape
VIRGINIA CITY - Authorities said they've found a 38-year-old inmate who escaped from the Storey County jail after closing the cell on his jailer two weeks ago.
The Storey County Sheriff said Jeremy James Morales was captured a few miles from the jail on Monday evening. Officials said an ATV rider had reported seeing a suspicious person who matched Morales' description, and authorities later found him hiding in weeds.
Sheriff Gerald Antinoro said Morales was dehydrated and had injuries to his feet, but otherwise was in good health and still wearing his jail uniform.
Morales escaped Oct. 1, the day he was to be sentenced on a child sex assault charge. Deputies said he hid in the shadows of his cell then shut an officer inside when the officer went to check it.
