Suspect hospitalized after standoff
The armed suspect inside an apartment near Nellis Boulevard and Stewart Avenue shot himself and was in critical condition at University Medical Center on Wednesday, Las Vegas police said.
Police had responded to a residence in the 500 block of Riata Way just before 2 p.m. and said an armed man was inside. Others in the apartment were safely evacuated.
Two nearby schools, Rundle Elementary School and Keller Middle School, were locked down during the afternoon.
