Three wounded in southwest valley bar shooting

A shotgun-wielding man was arrested after he fired into a southwest valley bar Thursday afternoon and then chased those inside the bar to a nearby business where he shot three people, Las Vegas police said.

A woman who was shot in the chest was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition. She was the most seriously injured.

The unidentified gunman was arrested without incident once police arrived at the scene. Police said he appeared to be in his 30s.

At 1:24 p.m., police received 911 calls about the shooting at Bomas Bar & Grill, 8020 S. Durango Drive near Windmill Lane.

Officer Marcus Martin, a police spokesman, said in addition to the woman who was shot in the chest, a man was shot in the arm. He also was taken to UMC and is expected to survive.

A second man who was grazed by gunfire was treated at the Windmill Plaza crime scene, Martin said.

Officer Laura Meltzer, a police spokeswoman, said multiple rounds were fired inside the bar, but no one was hit.

Those inside the bar then fled and tried to take shelter in a nearby business, Meltzer said.

The three victims were shot either while fleeing or while inside the second location.

Meltzer said the shooting included multiple crime scenes and many witnesses who needed to be interviewed.

As investigators sorted through the dynamic scene Thursday afternoon, one critical question remained unanswered.

"We don't know what the motive is at this time," Meltzer said. "That will be part of the investigation."

Thursday night, investigators focused on an indigo coupe in the parking lot. A policewoman holding a camera took several pictures inside the car.

By 8 p.m. police tape still enclosed the bar and the second business.

Several investigators walked in and out of that building, an office space that was identified only by the numbers 115 above its door.

Glass from the office's front door was shattered. Blinds from inside the building hung through the door. Investigators wearing gloves walked in and out of the building.

A man wearing a yellow and black Las Vegas police jacket inspected the shattered door and the broken blinds.

Another man who crossed the police tape after being inside the bar declined comment.
