A 22-year-old woman was sentenced to seven to 24 years in prison for a drunken driving crash in Las Vegas that killed two of her passengers.
Lacey Ambro, who was 18 at the time of the Feb. 13, 2008 crash, was sentenced Thursday by Judge Valorie Vega. Ambro in April pleaded guilty to two counts of DUI resulting in death.
Two of the three passengers in the vehicle were killed: Zoey Roanoke, 16 and James English, 17. A third passenger survived.
Prosecutor Bruce Nelson had asked for the maximum sentence for Ambro, which was eight to 20 years on each count.
Nelson said family members of the victims who spoke at the hearing asked the judge not to sentence Ambro to the maximum, but not to give her the minimum of two to five years either.
Authorities made a point at the time of the crash that neither Roanoke or English were wearing seat belts and both were ejected from the vehicle.
