Woman’s body found in apartment complex in west valley

A man found the body of his wife early Saturday morning inside her home in a gated apartment complex in the western Las Vegas Valley, police said.

Las Vegas police were handling the case as a homicide, and the Clark County coroner's office planned to conduct an autopsy in the next few days to determine the cause of death, said Capt. Chris Jones with the robbery and homicide division.

The woman's husband, who was not taken into custody, discovered the body around 9 a.m., Jones said.

Homicide detectives were on scene all day at the complex, the Willowbrook Apartments, 2601 S. Pavilion Center Drive, near the intersection with Sahara Avenue and just off the Las Vegas Beltway.

Neighbors questioned inside the complex, for the most part, were not aware of the homicide and did not know the woman, with the exception of one man who preferred not to talk about her.

"I've got to get back to my girlfriend," he said. "She's stressed out over it all."

He said he did not trust the safety of the apartment complex anymore and was planning to move out soon.

The victim's age was unknown.
