Las Vegas police say a 30-year-old man shot and killed his girlfriend in their west valley apartment while their 1-year-old son was in a playpen downstairs.
Attorneys for one of the victims alleged that Dylan Houston “knew or must have known of the intentions of his father” before the fatal shooting.
Las Vegas police say 31-year-old Kiera McCall told neighbors her 1-year-old son “might have gotten into some heroin under the bed” before his death.
The shooting occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 4300 block of Boulder Highway near Desert Inn Road.
The Clark County coroner’s office has identified the woman shot to death on July 3 in a west valley apartment.

Joseph Houston’s victims were attorney Dennis Prince, 57, and Ashley Prince, 30. Prince had been representing his wife in a bitter custody battle.
At the scene, investigators found what appeared to be a laminated notecard with names and room numbers on it, according to the autopsy report.
Jason Kendall, 35, turned himself in at the Metropolitan Police Department’s headquarters on Friday, police said.
