Annual bazaar listing could be cause for cheer

It's fairly easy to feel down in the dumps about a lousy economy that stretches on and on. For those who count shopping among their hobbies it is especially dreary.

But we might just have something to cheer people up. It's nearly time for the Review-Journal's annual listing of holiday bazaars.

Local bazaars generally have an array of things to look at, including one-of-a-kind items that often work perfectly as gifts. There's usually a wide range of prices, too.

And since we list only nonprofit groups raising money for charitable projects, shoppers can feel their purchases will benefit others as well.

Right now, we're looking for submissions from nonprofit groups that want to be included in the list. These clubs and organizations must provide the name of the event, date, time and street address, along with a description of the items for sale. We also need the name of the nonprofit group sponsoring the bazaar and information on how the money raised will be used.

The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Sept. 23. Those providing the information should include a name and daytime phone number in case we need additional details (personal information will not be published).

Send information to Holiday Bazaars, Features Department, Las Vegas Review-Journal, P.O. Box 70, Las Vegas, NV 89125-0700. Or fax it to 383-4676 or e-mail it to mrhynes@reviewjournal.com (with Holiday Bazaars in the subject line).

Further details are available by calling Madelon Hynes, 383-0306.

The listing is scheduled to appear in the Living section and online on Oct. 11.
