NEVADA TAVERN OWNERS ASSOCIATION

The Nevada Tavern Owners Association meets at 4 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at Blue Ox Tavern, 5825 W. Sahara Ave. (839-9006).

NEWCOMERS CLUBS

Westside Newcomers Club, a social club for women who have lived in the valley five years or less, offers a variety of activities, including a New Member Coffee for new and prospective members the first Wednesday of the month and a luncheon with a program the second Wednesday of the month (645-3426).

Desert Newcomers, a social organization for women new to Las Vegas and Henderson, meets at 10 a.m. the last Thursday of the month at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway. The women also have a luncheon on the third Wednesday of every month (818-5641).

LECTURE

Jerome Silbergeld and Kinmay W. Tang of Princeton University will present Jiang Wen's "In the Heat of the Sun and the Exquisite Art of Self-Deception" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Barrick Museum auditorium at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway, as part of its University Forum series. The lecture is sponsored by the UNLV College of Liberal Arts and the Dean's Associates. Admission is free (895-3401).
