SIGNINGS
Geoff Schumacher will sign "Sun, Sin & Suburbia: The History of Modern Las Vegas Revised and Expanded" at 1 p.m. today at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd.
Sharon Mae King will sign "This is My Introduction from Me to You. Remember Me? A Memoir" at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd.
EVENTS
The "Inside Stories" Speaker Series will feature author Dr. Mark Galeotti at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Mob Museum, 300 Stewart Ave. Galeotti will discuss the rise of organized crime in Russia, how it spread, and how it affects international security. A pre-event reception with hors d'oeuvres and a complimentary cocktail will be followed by the presentation and a Q&A session. Tickets are $35 (724-8641).
Novelist and writer Tod Goldberg will give a lecture at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Room K101 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Room B101 at the College of Southern Nevada - Charleston campus, 6375 W. Charleston Blvd. The lecture is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
"A State of the Union Conversation: An Evening with Frank Rick & Fran Lebowitz" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center, 361 Symphony Park Ave. Tickets are $26-$79 (749-2000).
Children's author Brandon Mull will read from his works with an informal discussion, meet-and-greet, book sales and signings at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Galleria Library at Sunset at Galleria mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. The free event is a pre-festival event of the Vegas Valley Book Festival (207-4275).
As part of the Black Mountain Institute's Readings & Panels Series, poet James Longenbach will give a reading at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Mesquite Room at the Flamingo Las Vegas, 3555 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The event is free (895-5542).
"The Tell: I Fought The Law/ I Am The Law," an evening of tall tales and true stories hosted by local author and poet Dayvid Figler, will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mob Museum, 300 Stewart Ave. The event is a pre-festival event of the Vegas Valley Book Festival.
