SIGNINGS

Children's author Becky Davis will sign and discuss "Red Carpet Chronicles: Mojave Desert Plants Reveal All to Terri Terrain" at 10 a.m. Thursday at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, 4550 S. Maryland Parkway.

EVENTS

Professional speaker and author Judi Moreo presents "Getting Paid to Speak," a workshop for authors, at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Conference Room 2 of the Bonanza Building at the Review-Journal, 1111 W. Bonanza Road. The fee is $35 and reservations are required by calling 383-0496.

"Writing What You Know: Pouring Life Experience Into Your Fiction Novel" will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

An Author's Symposium with Martha Tucker, Alfatari Richards and Rhayne M. Thomas will be presented at 9 a.m. Saturday at West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Reservations are required. Call 507-3989 for more information.

For National Reading Month, all Borders locations in the Las Vegas Valley will be collecting new books through April 24 to benefit Child Haven's Through the Eyes of a Child Foundation. Participants who donate a book will receive a two-for-one ticket offer to magician Mac King's comedy show at Harrah's Las Vegas.

The Socrates Cafe, a discussion group on "Six Questions of Socrates: A Modern Day Discovery through World Philosophy" by Christopher Phillips, meets at 7 p.m. Tuesdays in the Reading Room at Mandalay Place, 3930 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The Amazing Reads Book Club meets at 7 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd.

The Sahara West Book Discussion Group meets at 7 p.m. the last Thursday of each month at Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.

STORY TIMES

Story time with music and crafts is offered Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and the second Saturday of the month at Barnes & Noble, 567 N. Stephanie St., Henderson.

Story time in the Square is offered at 11 a.m. Wednesdays in Children's Park at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Story time is offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the NeverEnding Story Bookshoppe, 9440 W. Sahara Ave.

Individual libraries within the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District offer a variety of story times and special events for children of all ages throughout the year. Most libraries require registration for their programs. Call the libraries for details.
