BOOK SIGNING
Ruby Miller-Stewart will sign and discuss "Murderer Amongst Us" 3-5 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 3860 S. Maryland Parkway.
Carolyn Schneider, Bing Crosby's niece, will sign and discuss "Bing: On the Road to Elko" 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Addison's Lounge at Rampart Casino, 221 N. Rampart Blvd.
Deborah Wall will sign and discuss "Cerca Country Guides" 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, 3645 S. Town Center Drive, and noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
EVENTS
"Writing Beyond Reality," a discussion with author Tamora Pierce, will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd. A book sale and signing will follow the event.
"The Genius of Mark Twain," featuring scholar, author and storyteller Elliot Engel, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium of the Downtown Senior Services Center, 310 S. Ninth St. A reception and book signing will follow the presentation at the Junior League's Morelli House, 831 Bridger Ave. The events are free, but seating is limited. A poetry reading by professor Claudia Keelan of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Marjorie Barrick Museum Auditorium, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway. Keelan will read from her book "Missing Her."
"An Evening with James Ellroy: Demon Dog of American Crime Fiction" will be presented at 2 p.m. Oct. 25 at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.
Author Mitch Albom will discuss his novel "Have a Little Faith: A True Story" and host a reception at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Temple Beth Sholom, 10700 Havenwood Lane. A VIP meet-and-greet will be at 6 p.m. Reserved seating is $54 for Jewish Community Center and Temple Beth Sholom members and $60 for nonmembers. General admission is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. Access to the VIP meet-and-greet, an autographed book and premier seating is available for a $100 donation. For tickets, call 794-0090.
The Contemporary Fiction Book Club meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month and the SNAFFU Science Fiction Book Club meets at 2 p.m. the fourth Sunday of the month at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.
The Fantastic Classics Book Club meets at 7:15 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month at Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, Henderson.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
