Authors Kevin W. Smith and Ronald J. Lofaro will sign and discuss "Hostile to Reason: Socialism's Final Countdown" at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Mesquite Fine Art Gallery, 15 W. Mesquite Blvd., Mesquite.
Authors Souraya Christine ("When Is Strong, Strong Enough?"), Imani True ("A Little Sumthin' Sumthin'"), and An Howard ("Whispers of Words Spoken") will sign copies of their books at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd.
Stu Michaels will sign "You Can't Make This Up! Cops, Crooks and Celebrities from Brooklyn to Las Vegas" at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 8915 W. Charleston Blvd.

Paul W. Papa will sign "Haunted Las Vegas" at noon Oct. 28 at Barnes & Noble, 567 N. Stephanie St., Henderson.
EVENTS
"Wish You Were Here: The Las Vegas Writes Project," featuring a panel discussion with eight local writers who conceived short stories and essays inspired by the Sin City postcards, will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. A book signing and reception will follow the discussion. The event is a prefestival event of the Vegas Valley Book Festival (507-3459; vegasvalleybookfestival.org).
"The Monster's Monster Halloween Story Time" will feature book readings from Halloween favorites and a costume Halloween Parade at 11 a.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 2191 N. Rainbow Blvd.
The Amazing Reads Book Club meets at 5:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd.
Book Lovers' Bistro meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Whitney Library, 5175 E. Tropicana Ave.
