UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
Baby-sitting classes offered at hospital
Teens earning spending money this summer baby-sitting can now improve their skills through Safe Sitter classes at University Medical Center.
UMC offers free Safe Sitter classes to adolescents age 11 to 13. Safe Sitter classes teach would-be baby sitters how to handle emergencies when caring for children.
The two-day program covers basic child care, how to call for emergency help, first aid, safety and baby-sitting business skills. A certificate is given to participants upon successful completion of the program.
The Safe Sitter certificate lets parents know the baby sitter has the knowledge and skills to watch their children.
Safe Sitter classes take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 19 and 20, July 17 and 18, July 31 and Aug. 1, and Aug. 14 and 15.
