Get married for free at the Linq on 12/13/14

If you want to get married soon, and on Caesars’ dime, step right up to Las Vegas’ fanciest, slowest-moving Ferris wheel.

Caesars is planning to host hundreds of “in-motion” weddings on the High Roller at the Linq Promenade on Dec. 13 — aka “the last sequential wedding date of this century” — between 10:11 a.m. and 12:13 p.m.

It’s not really a Ferris wheel. It’s the world’s largest observation wheel. But “slowest-moving Ferris wheel” makes more sense to my Vegas brain.

Anyway, let’s lazily quote the Caesars press release:

“To celebrate the lucky date, the High Roller will host free simultaneous in-cabin weddings on the impressive wheel for two hours and two minutes.”

Is there a catch? Of course.

Free rides are for brides and grooms only.

And: “Cabins will include multiple couples being married and officiated at the same time. This offers the chance to share the experience with perfect strangers inside the 28 cabins of the High Roller that can accommodate up to 40 passengers!”

Private cabin ceremonies are crazy expensive, starting at $1,700. That not-a-Ferris-wheel is so expensive, I haven’t even been on it yet!

Is there another catch? But yes. An open call will be held Thursday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Linq Fountains.

“To be considered, those interested must be certified and licensed as a wedding officiant in the state of Nevada and must be available between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on 12/13/14.”

Whew. Weddings are hard work.

By the way, Caesars is using straight and LGBTQ couples in its promos. I am quite proud of my state for finally recognizing all adult humans own this basic human right to marry and, about half of the time, divorce.
