Help shatter mother-in-law myths

Late comedian Henny Youngman once famously said: "I've just returned from a pleasure trip; I took my mother-in-law to the airport."

The joke no doubt expressed a universal belief that is still held by many a married man or woman, that mothers-in-law are as mean and ornery as a stirred-up hornets' nest. They're undesirable. Unwanted.

But that's just a myth, right? Maybe it's true in some instances, but we're betting that readers have plenty of stories about how much they love and appreciate their mothers-in-law.

So let's hear them. Share your story about how great your mother-in-law is. Tell us why you appreciate her. Detail her good qualities. Talk about what she has done for you or how she has helped you or someone else.

Send your stories, 350 words or less, by email to spadgett@reviewjournal.com or to Mother's Day Feature, Las Vegas Review-Journal Features Department, P.O. Box 70, Las Vegas NV 89125-0070. Be sure to include your first and last name, your address, your mother-in-law's name and your phone number. We'll run the best stories in our Mother's Day edition, May 13. Entries are due by 5 p.m. April 18.
