Hispanic heritage celebrated

The East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center's Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations of the diverse cultures of Latin America continue on Friday with traditional Peruvian music and dances.

The performance is part of the center's Bandstand Jam Series and takes place outdoors in the courtyard beginning at 7 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the performance will be moved into the ballroom. Admission is free. For information, call 229-1515.

The center, at 250 N. Eastern Ave., hosts a variety of programs for the community. Many of them focus on Latin American arts, from ballet folklorico and salsa dances to Spanish-language films about contemporary social issues.
