Container Store opening raises $16,500 for Junior League

The Container Store, the nation's originator and leading retailer of storage and organization products, donated a portion of its grand opening weekend sales recently to the Junior League of Las Vegas.

The 22,000-square-foot store in Town Square Las Vegas, the chain's 55th location, opened May 12. The donation is part of the retailer's commitment to its local communities.

"Partnering with an organization like the Junior League of Las Vegas that is truly invested in the entire Las Vegas community is an incredible honor for our company," said Kip Tindell, chairman and chief executive officer of The Container Store. "We couldn't have found a better match - and it's an organization we know that our customers and employees in Las Vegas are passionate about."

The Junior League of Las Vegas is an educational and charitable organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

For the grand opening, more than 100 shoppers lined up outside the store in anticipation of the opening. The first in line was The Container Store's Las Vegas Super Fan, Lisa Wolfrum, who received her own shopping cart decorated with Super Fan flags and signs. Wolfrum submitted the winning entry for The Container Store's Las Vegas Super Fan contest that asked why she considered herself to be worthy of Super Fan status. In addition to being the first person in the store on grand opening day, the Super Fan prize package included a gift card, a box full of products from The Container Store and invitation to the private preview party on Thursday evening.
