Fall gardening topic of class

Clark County Cooperative Extension master gardener Helen Brown will present a fall gardening class Aug. 18 at Whole Foods Market in Henderson, 100 S. Green Valley Parkway. The class begins at 11 a.m.

Cooler weather is the best season to grow vegetables. In Las Vegas, cool weather gardening can begin as early as late August and end as late as the end of May, depending on the weather. All the root vegetables do beautifully in this season. With less sun, these plants thrive and are free of most insects. They require less water, which is an added plus, and you can use more creative types of containers.
