Land Care earns certification as veteran-owned business
Land Care Inc., a full-service, professional landscape management company in North Las Vegas, has been verified as a service disabled veteran-owned small business.
The certification is expected to help the firm gain contracts for service with government contractors, companies seeking government contracts, general contractors and municipalities.
Land Care is owned and managed by Rob Diaz, a U.S. Air Force veteran with 20 years of experience in the landscape field.
According to Diaz, the certification falls under an order signed by President George W. Bush in 2004 that provides opportunities for small businesses owned by disabled veterans to increase their federal contracting and subcontracting. To qualify for the certification, more than 51 percent of a business must be owned by a service-disabled veteran and management and daily operations must be controlled by one or more service-disabled veterans. The application process can take as long as several years and each company must pass a rigorous screening for competence, financial stability and customer satisfaction.
