Gardeners to staff information table at farmers market
November 1, 2012 - 1:02 am
The Clark County master gardeners will staff an information table at the Tivoli Farmers Market on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The special topics being presented Saturday is herbs for holiday cooking and fertilizing for fall. The topic for Nov. 17 is taking care of roses and winterizing your garden.
Community members are invited to stop by with their gardening questions and pick up free gardening publications.
Master gardeners are university-trained community volunteers who share their knowledge and desert gardening skills via community projects such as Ask a Master Gardener information tables. Master gardeners are experienced in successfully growing plants in the harsh hot, dry, windy climate of the Mojave Desert. By teaching what to plant and how to properly care for their landscapes or gardens, the master gardeners save people money on water, soil amendments and plant materials.
Questions also may be asked through the master gardener's help desk at 702-257-5555 or email at lvmastergardeners@unce@unr.edu.
