Heloise column debuts

Today marks the debut of Hints from Heloise in the Home section.

Hints from Heloise appears in more than 500 newspapers in the United States and internationally.

Heloise has been writing the column since 1977, when she took over the duties from her mother, who originated the column in 1959 in the Honolulu Advertiser. It has been syndicated with King Features Syndicate since 1961.

In addition to the newspaper column, Heloise is a contributing editor of Good Housekeeping magazine and writes a monthly column, Good Advice: Heloise to the Rescue. She also is a frequent guest on radio and television shows and has penned 11 books.

The Texas native has a home and office in San Antonio.

She attended Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in San Marcos, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education, with a double major in business administration and mathematics, in 1974, as well as a teacher's certificate.
