Parade recognizes exceptional design

Following the largest-attended event in its seven-year history, the Las Vegas Parade of Homes recognized exceptional design during an awards ceremony earlier this week.

The awards were determined by votes from area residents who visited all 12 of the featured homes. In addition, two category awards determined by a vote from professionals in the industry were presented.

"The parade looks at any of these 14,000-square-foot sites as a comprehensive effort of hundreds of contractors' goods and services. In the parade's effort to showcases diversity in structural and interior design, builders have become fabulously competitive in their entries, which makes the Parade of Homes so outstanding to attend," said Lisa Hester, executive producer of the Las Vegas Parade of Homes. "The awards ceremony recognizes excellence and gives bragging rights to those which stood out amongst the best."

With the awards ceremony concluding the 2009 event, plans are being made for the 2010 parade, which is scheduled for April 23 through May 9.

This year's winners are:

People's choice: best residential design, Daniel Coletti, Vantage Pointe; best interior design, Cleo Design, The Elements; best pool, Paragon Pools, AquaTekture; best builder, Blue Heron, Marquis; and best overall, Sun West Custom Homes, Vantage Pointe.

Industry professionals: best automation and home theater, HD Media, Vantage Pointe; and best green build, Blue Heron, Marquis.
