Passion for pets displayed at show

CAS is doing its part to make life a little more beautiful for both people and their four-legged companions.

The wholesaler of framed art and mirrors, which showcased its newest additions during the recent home-furnishings trade show at World Market Center Las Vegas, arranged for artist Jay Throckmorton to draw portraits of customers' pets.

Dana Poepsil, who manages the Las Vegas showroom, said the Orlando, Fla.-based company is very animal oriented. A portion of the sale of any animal-specific print is donated to Best Friends Animal Society, which aids homeless animals and tries to find them new homes.

Poepsil said the company's owners arranged for Throckmorton to visit its showrooms in Las Vegas, Dallas and High Point, N.C., during trade shows to raise greater awareness of their support of the nonprofit agency, as well as show their appreciation to their customers.

"Our customers absolutely love this," she said.

Throckmorton agreed, adding that each time he visits a CAS showroom, more people bring photographs of their pets for him to draw. The Virginia artist specializes in portraits of people and animals.

CAS (which stands for creative, assortment, style) strives to offer unique mat and frame treatments to give traditional art images a 21st century feel.
