Latin American festival planned

The cultures of Latin America will be celebrated during the fifth annual "United Today and Always/Unidos Hoy y Siempre" celebration Oct. 5 at the East Las Vegas Community/ Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

From 7 to 9 p.m., visitors can listen to music and poetry, watch dances and look at arts and crafts displays.

Admission is free.

Live entertainment will be provided by Alberto Souza, Ecos de Chile de Chile, Mexico Vivo Dance Company, Mariachi Juvenil Mi Tierra, Salsa Negra Dance Company and Peruvian Cultural Arts & Folklore Association.

"United Today" is presented by the Arts and Community Events Division of the city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services with support from several radio stations.

The community/senior center offers numerous programs for all ages, including classes in art, ceramics, dance, Spanish conversation and music; festivals; salsa and family dances; film series and concerts. Call 229-1515 for more information.
