Local students to perform mariachi music

La Rondalla "Vivo Mexico" and Mariachi Juvenil "Mi Tierra" de Miguel Curiel perform 7 p.m. Saturday at the East Las Vegas Community/Seniro Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

Tickets are $5 for adults, and children age 12 and under are free. Call 229-1515 for information.

The groups feature students of the center's resident music instructor, Miguel Curiel. Founded in 2000, Mi Tierra is a mariachi band whose members are between the ages of 15 and 18 who are dedicated to performing and preserving traditional mariachi music.

Curiel teaches classes to beginning to advanced students age 7 and older.
