Night Groovin’ concert spotlights local groups

KJ & Friends, and Joey Hines & the Hard Goodbye perform at 7 p.m. March 28 as part of the Reed Whipple Cultural Center's Night Groovin' series.

The concert takes place in the outdoor courtyard at the East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

In case of inclement weather, the performance will be moved into the ballroom.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for teens and seniors, and $3 for children 12 and under. Call 229-6711 for more information.

Singer, songwriter and musician Kearsten Kuroishi, leader of KJ & Friends, is a new artist known for alternative rock music.

The Hard Goodbye is comprised of singer and songwriter Joey Hines and is joined by brothers Dave on keyboard and Mike on bass. Chad Filbert is the drummer.

The band's alternative/indie/rock songs focus on loss, renewal and hope.

Both Kuroishi and Joey Hines have honed their stage personas as past and current members of the Rainbow Company Youth Theatre's Ensemble.

The concert is presented by the Arts & Community Events Division of the city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services.
