HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a hike with some scrambling to Keystone Thrust. On Tuesday, a six-mile moderate hike through Cave Canyon. On Wednesday, a 21/2-mile hike with some scrambling and bouldering through Ice Box Canyon (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's Web site: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Thursday, an ongoing program from 9 to 11 a.m. at the visitor center on desert tortoises. On Friday, a 25-minute talk and discussion about predators of Southern Nevada, ongoing from 1 to 4 p.m. at the visitor center. On Saturday, a program for children 5 to 8 years old about snow (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
