Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, a moderate, four-mile hike at Ice Box Canyon. On Thursday, an easy, mile-and-a-half wildlife walk for those over 15 years old. On Friday, a moderate to strenuous three-mile hike with a 950-foot elevation gain at Mary Jane Falls. On Saturday, a moderate, four-and-a-half-mile hike at Inscription Hill (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's Web site: www.aroundthebendfriends.com

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, a discussion on the history of Red Rock Canyon at the visitors center. Program is ongoing from 1-4 p.m. On Thursday, help clean a trail head at Red Rock. On Friday, a program for 5-10 year olds about the tracks of desert animals. On Saturday, the Las Vegas Astronomical Society will have telescopes available at the visitor center to view the night sky. The program is from 5:30-9:30 p.m., but the gates close for admittance at 6 p.m. (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org. On Thursday, speaker Jeff Wedding will offer an overview of Nevada's railroads at 7 p.m. at College of Southern Nevada, 6375 W.
