HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: Monday, there will be a moderate 4-mile hike with a 1,500-foot elevation gain. On Friday, there will be a moderate 3.5-mile hike to North Loop Meadow. On Saturday, there will be a 2.5- mile moderate hike to Ice Box Canyon with some scrambling. On Saturday, there will be an easy 1/2-mile walk to Corn Creek Spring (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's Web site: www. aroundthebendfriends.com

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Wednesday, children ages 3-5 will hear a story about plants and animals of the Mojave Desert. Afterward, there will be discussion and picture drawing. This program will be every Wednesday, ending Aug. 12. On Thursday, there will be a morning clean-up activity. On Friday, there will be an activity for 2-6 year olds to learn about ladybugs. There will be a hands-on activity, a craft and more. On Saturday, there will be an activity for 2 to 10 year olds at Red Spring. Children will learn about Red Spring. Craft included (515-5367).
