Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, there is a moderate 5-mile hike to La Madre Springs. A strenuous eight-mile hike to North Peak will take place Tuesday. Wednesday's events will include a moderate three-mile hike along the escarpment to the mouth of First Creek Canyon; also a strenuous five-mike hike to the top of Turtlehead Peak, overshadowing the Calico Hills and Red Rock. On Friday, there is a moderate three-mile hike at Keystone Thrust to a land formation. An easy 1/2-mile walk at Corn Creek Spring will take place Saturday (515-5367).

The Desert Riders Club of Nevada: The Las Vegas Desert Riders Club of Nevada, a local chapter of the Honda Rider's Club of America, meets at 9 a.m. the second Saturday of the month at Carter Power Sports, 6725 S. Decatur Blvd. All motorcycles are welcome (795-2000).

Red Rock Canyon: No experience is necessary for this six-mile introductory mountain bike ride April 5, starting from the late night parking lot. Helmets are required. Ages 10 and over (515-5367).

Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center: "Predators of Southern Nevada," a program about the wild things of Southern Nevada, will take place Tuesday, once an hour from 1 to 4 p.m. On Friday, there is a program about lizards in the Mojave Desert for children 2-6 years old. Saturday's events will include "Simply Spiders," an nteractive program for children 5-12 to learn facts and engage in a craft (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
