Hikes
Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, take a moderate, 3.3-mile early morning hike to La Madre Spring; for ages 12 and older. On Tuesday, enjoy a moderate, 3-mile night hike at Oak Creek; for ages 12 and older. On Wednesday, explore the ancient seabed on the ridge of the Moenkopi trail on a moderate, 1.5- to 3-mile early morning hike; for ages 12 and older. Also on Wednesday, learn about the geological features along the Calico Hills trail during a moderate, 2-mile evening hike; for ages 10 and older.
Mount Charleston: On Friday, enjoy scenic views of the upper part of Kyle Canyon on a moderate-to-strenuous, 3-mile hike to Mary Jane Falls; for ages 15 and older.

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people 50 and older who are involved in hiking and related social activities plans several hikes each week of various difficulty levels, including an easy-to-moderate social hike on Saturdays. OTHER PROGRAMS
Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, take an art class; for ages 15 and older. Also on Tuesday, the summer series for children ages 2 to 7 focuses on what makes up a habitat. On Wednesday, learn about the geology of Red Rock in tabletop presentations from noon to 4 p.m. On Friday, help clean up a trail. Also on Friday, learn about trail and hiking safety, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Visitor Center. On Saturday, children 2 to 7 can learn about tracks and the animals that make them. Also on Saturday, kids can hear stories about the Mojave Desert at the Visitor Center. On Aug. 28, a tabletop presentation teaches how animals survive in the wild versus why animals become dependent on humans, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Visitors Center.
