Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Monday at the Rock: A moderate three to four-mile hike hunting for fossils around Fossil Ridge (515-5367).
Red Rock Canyon, Terrace Canyon: A very strenuous six-mile hike Friday through South Fork Pine Creek. This hike is suitable only for experienced hikers who should be prepared to go past the top of the escarpment (515-5367).
Red Rock Canyon, Corn Creek Spring: An easy one-half-mile morning walk Saturday to view prime habitat for aquatic and land plants and animals (515-5367).

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, Winter night: Meet at the tour gate Saturday at 4 p.m. for a two-hour hike with some bouldering at Sandstone Canyon. Arrive 15 minutes early, as the park gates close when the hike starts. No dogs or children under 12 years old allowed. For details, call 875-4141.

The Las Vegas High Rollers and Strollers: Members of the American Volkssport Association will have an easy group walk at 7 a.m. Saturday, along city sidewalks and local parks. Hike the East Rim Trail, about 10-miles, with a 2,200 foot gain, camp near Stave Springs, Saturday night and hike to Cable Mountain the next day.
