HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Wednesday, a moderate 3-mile night hike at Moenkopi. Bring a flashlight. On Thursday, an easy 2-mile hike at Moenkopi Trail. On Saturday, a moderate 3- to 4-mile hike at Oliver Ranch. Also Saturday, an easy to moderate 3-mile hike at Lost Creek. On April 17, an easy to moderate 4-mile hike at Escarpment Base Trail (515-5367).

Valley of Fire: From 2 to 3:30 p.m. April 17, a hike with a ranger to Fire Canyon Overlook along the Rainbow Vista Trail Head (397-2088).

Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a tabletop presentation on animals and their contributions to the canyon's environment. On Tuesday, a no pressure art class for those 15 and older. No experience necessary and all supplies are provided. On Saturday, a nature-based art class for those 4 and older. Supplies are provided. On April 17, a tabletop presentation on how animals survive in their habitat. Also April 17, children 5-8 can take a walk to explore the environment (515-5367).

Valley of Fire: On Saturday, the second annual classic car show will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the visitor center lower parking lot. The show will feature pre-1985 classic vehicles, music, food, a history display and trophies and prizes (397-2088).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
