HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, an easy 2-mile hike to look for gila monsters. On Thursday, a moderate 6-mile hike at White Rock Loop. On Saturday, a moderate 3- to 4-mile hike on Oak Creek trail. On May 15, an easy-to-moderate 4-mile hike at First Creek. Also May 15, a strenuous 3-mile hike with scrambling and bouldering at Red Cap (515-5367).

Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a table-top presentation in the visitors center on animal impressions. On Tuesday, an art class for those 15 and older. Supplies will be provided. No experience necessary. On Friday, a canyon clean up is scheduled. On Saturday, Ranger Jim Cribbs will speak about bats at Red Rock Canon. Seating is limited. Also Saturday, a program for 2-6 year olds about the Mojave Desert. On May 15, a table-top presentation in the visitors center on the ways natives used the land's resources for tools, housing and clothing (515-5367).
