Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, a hike to La Madre Spring to find spring flowers. On Thursday, an easy 1- to 2-mile hike at Red Spring to watch for birds. Also Thursday, a moderate 3-mile star hike at First Creek. Bring a flashlight. On Saturday, a moderate 3- to 4-mile hike at Fossil Ridge. On Saturday, an easy, ½-mile hike at Corn Creek. On April 10, a strenuous 6-mile strenuous hike with bouldering and scrambling at Mescalito Falls (515-5367). Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Friday, a canyon clean up. On Saturday, a program for 2-5 year olds on butterflies in the Mohave Desert. Also Saturday, Nicholas Walendziak, a Bureau of Land Management climbing ranger, will share climbing knowledge. Seating is limited. RSVP recommended. Also Saturday, the Las Vegas Astronomical Society will have member telescopes for viewing in the night skies. Gates close at 8 p.m., so arrive before then (515-5367).
