HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate 6-mile hike along White Rock Loop trail. On Tuesday, a strenuous 8-mile hike with an elevation gain of 2,600 feet at North Peak. On Wednesday, a moderate night hike at Cottonwood Valley. Bring a flashlight. On Saturday, a moderate to easy 3-mile hike at Fossil Ridge. On Nov. 7, a strenuous 6-mile hike at Brownstone Canyon (515-5367).

Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Saturday, ongoing from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., nature stories will be read in the visitor center. Also Saturday, an art class for the entire family, including children 4 and older. No experience necessary and supplies are provided. On Nov. 7, a program for children 2-10 years old on animal movements and rhythms (515-5367).
